Summary:
The Director of Advancement is responsible for all fundraising planning, outcomes and activities at the Catholic Student Center at Washington University (CSC), an agency of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. The individual in this role must be comfortable developing relationships with donors at all levels with the focus of solidifying the donor’s relationship with the CSC’s mission. The director is a member of the CSC’s leadership team and supervises multiple positions. This role will report to the Director of Operations and work in collaboration with the CSC staff and community.

This is a full-time position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Oversee a comprehensive advancement program that includes annual fund gifts, major gifts, planned gifts, and the submission of grants. This may include the development and execution of a capital campaign or mini-campaign.
● Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major donors through high-quality interactions including individual meetings. Special attention must be given to alumni of the Catholic Student Center as well as major donors.
● In collaboration with other staff, oversee the writing of solicitation letters, thank you letters, annual Donor Impact Report and other stewardship materials.
● Oversee the successful execution of the Newman Gala and other special events and fundraising programs.
● Work closely with the CSC’s Chaplain, and other staff, to identify and cultivate donors as well as identify fundraising opportunities.
● Collaborate with other staff members for activities that fall outside of advancement work.
● Provide direct supervisory support to the Advancement Coordinator, Special Events Coordinator and Communications Specialist.
● In collaboration with the Special Events Coordinator, serve as primary contact for CSC Friends. Support the committee of volunteers which facilitates programming, volunteer opportunities, and social events for CSC Friends.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
● A Bachelor’s degree is required. An advanced degree is strongly preferred.
● 5+ years of fundraising experience required.
● Management experience is preferred.
● Time management and organizational skills.
● Attention to detail.
● Strong communication skills including written and verbal.
● Proficient in MS Office programs and Google suite.
● Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge 7.0 or Raiser’s Edge NXT, or a similar database system,
is strongly preferred.
● Practicing Catholic is strongly preferred.
