Statement of Purpose:  Annual Fund and Marketing Program

The Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Newman Center’s Development Office exists to connect a broad and diverse group of individuals spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, and financially to Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Newman Center’s mission for forming missionary disciples and inspire them to sustain its operations and ministries through high volume/low dollar contributions.

 

Position Summary: 

The Assistant Director of Development and Marketing will assist in managing the Newman Center’s Capital Fund Campaign and its Annual Fund. This individual also ensures consistent and effective branded marketing and communications in company websites, print communications, and advertising to achieve strategic goals and help the on-going success of ministerial programs and operations.

 

Job Type:

Full-time.  Reports to Chaplain and Director of Development. 

 

Essential Functions:  

  • Baccalaureate degree or higher in Marketing or Business related, preferred.
  • Commitment to continuous learning.
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and an affinity for the mission of the Catholic campus ministry, and the ability to effectively communicate it via marketing efforts.
  • Three (3) years of experience with demonstrated success in management of a fund development program or a willingness to learn.
  • Thorough knowledge of marketing principles and practices, to include web page management.
  • Experience in Internet and social media strategies, preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation as driving is a necessity for visiting benefactors
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and adaptable

 

 Skills and Abilities:

  • Thoroughness in planning and implementing work, including goals, timetables, and formulating action steps to achieve objectives.

  • Ability to be flexible, work independently on a variety of projects, within stated deadlines, in a fast-paced office environment.

  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to work with staff, students, board members, donors, volunteers, and vendors.

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus

  • Familiarity and skill with tools of the trade in marketing including public relations, written communications, website development, market research, branding, and promotions.

  • Experience managing external public relations and communications with media outlets, vendors, and contractors.

  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs, Adobe and Canva.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Director of Development and Chaplain to manage a comprehensive annual fund, marketing, and communications program, integrating the following: a newsletter four times per year (with accompanying appeals), fundraising brochures and fliers, website and social media postings, e-newsletters, logos, letterheads, banners, video testimonials of students, and other marketing materials for the advancement of the Catholic Newman Center, its ministries, and its development program.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Development, creating, maintaining, and executing an annual fund marketing calendar and a five-year strategic plan for the development program.
  • Manages the strategic Mail Solicitation Program, including the compilation of solicitation materials, National Change of Address (NCOA) updates as required, coordination with selected printing houses and depositing any necessary postage funds.
  • Manages the production and distribution of the Catholic Newman Center’s newsletter, including the compilation of articles, photos, and donor reports, as well as coordination with a selected printing house and depositing any necessary postage funds.
  • Manages the production and distribution of bi-monthly (six annually) e-newsletters, including the compilation of articles and photos, as well as coordinating for an annual email append service.
  • Supports the Chaplain in weekly electronic communications to constituents (may include TikTok or other social media venues).
  • Manages the Catholic Newman Center’s website and e-commerce program, including updates to content, functionality and integration into the Catholic Newman Center’s overall marketing and development programs. Collaboration with the Directors to update the Catholic Newman Center’s other social media outlets.
  • Assists with the execution of the Catholic Newman Center’s special events, which could include benefactor dinners and receptions, tail gates, guest lectures and other development events, primarily through donor cultivation. Specific areas of responsibility include marketing materials, event programs, speaker preparation and assistance with the overall event success.
  • Assists the Development Office with establishing a Sustaining Team program and Legacy Giving program for operational support, including the creation and execution of a marketing plan to acquire additional monthly EFT or credit card donors, as well as planned gifts.
  • Assists the Director of Development in assuring that Annual Fund Campaign expenses are maintained within the development budget.
  • Assists the Director of Development in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of specific written procedures for work-flow processes associated with the Annual Fund Program.
  • Positively represents the Catholic Newman Center and the Diocese of Phoenix to the highest standard of ethics and in a professional manner at community and regional charity events.
  • Articulates the Newman Center’s mission and campaign message in a way the resonates with parishioners.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chaplain and Director of Development in support of the Catholic Newman Center, its fund development program, ministries, and operations.
